Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 700 lbs sold on a light test with a higher undertone; over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs sold on a light test with a higher undertone; over 600 lbs steady to 1.00 higher. Slaughter cows overall sold steady to 1.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 2.00 lower. Demand overall was good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feedyards sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher from 158.00 to 159.00. In the hay market, demand remained good, prices remained steady, and trade activity was slow to moderate. Folks are still looking to purchase hay but there just isn't much out there to purchase.

Supply included: 95% Feeder Cattle (57% Steers, 42% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 4% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (41% Stock Cows, 57% Bred Cows, 1% Bred Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 67%.
