Market Notes
Compared to last week, feeder steers under 700lbs traded steady to 4.00 lower with spots down to 8.00 lower. Steers over 700lbs were not well tested last week but traded with a firm undertone. Feeder heifers under 550lbs had little to compare to with last weeks light run but traded with a firm undertone. Heavier weight heifers traded steady to 3.00 lower. Demand was good on a heavy supply after the past few weeks of poor weather conditions and light runs of cattle. Slaughter cows and bulls traded steady and replacement cattle supply was too light for a market comparison.
Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (60% Steers, 32% Heifers, 8% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (67% Bred Cows, 7% Bred Heifers, 26% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 43%.
