Market Notes

Compared to the last reported sale four weeks ago, the loads of yearling 775-900 lb steers sold 2.00-3.00 higher and lighter weights traded mostly steady. Heifers sold mostly steady. Supply was moderate and included several attractive loads and packages of yearlings along with some shorter weaned calves. Demand was moderate. Corn continued it's surge higher on Monday and live and feeder cattle contracts have been trending lower over the last week. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher.

Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (80% Steers, 15% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 2% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 8% Replacement Cattle (67% Stock Cows, 33% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 75%.
