Compared to last week, slaughter cows traded 1.00-2.00 higher while slaughter bulls traded 2.00-4.00 higher. Demand was good on a heavy supply of slaughter animals and a moderate supply of replacement cattle. The USDA's Cold Storage report released Monday reported beef in freezer was 6 percent lower than last month and 5 lower than a year ago.
Supply included: 63% Slaughter Cattle (84% Cows, 16% Bulls); 37% Replacement Cattle (29% Stock Cows, 50% Bred Cows, 3% Bred Heifers, 15% Cow-Calf Pairs, 2% Bulls).
