Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold 5.00 to 10.00 higher with several spots up to 15.00 higher. Slaughter cows 3.00 to 6.00 higher. Slightly unusual offering this week with the bulk of the cattle drawn from a handful of large strings. Heifers outnumbered steers due to two load plus consignments of backgrounded heifers weighing either side of 700 lbs. Most of the cattle on offer were in good summer condition with some varying quality in the smaller groups. Supply moderate, demand good to very good.

Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (44% Steers, 55% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (96% Cows, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 68%.
