Market Notes

Compared to last week, the majority of steers and heifers sold 5.00-12.00 higher but there were a few weight groups more lightly tested that sold steady. Demand was good to very good for a nice offering of calves and several loads of yearlings that saw price levels move to new highs on several weight groups, especially the yearling heifers. The gains in feeder cattle and calves are fueled in part by the recent rise in the fed cattle trade that is breaking all time record highs and overall bullish market fundamentals. Supply was moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 3.00 higher.

Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (36% Steers, 61% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (87% Cows, 13% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 49%.
