Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold mostly steady except for several loads of 850-900 lb high quality yearling steers trading 3.006.00 higher. Demand was good for a moderate to heavy supply which included over 10 loads of yearlings that saw active bidding. The unweaned calves offered saw little discount if they were of good quality and not overly fleshy. Although spring has been off to a slow start, farmers are starting to make some progress planting corn in this area over the last week or so. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 2.00-5.00 lower.

Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (61% Steers, 34% Heifers, 6% Bulls); 15% Slaughter Cattle (84% Cows, 16% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (79% Stock Cows, 21% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 52%.
