Market Notes
Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to spots 5.00 higher. There was quite a bit of variety in the cattle which is typical this time of the year for this part of the country. Some hard weaned stocker type cattle ready to turn out were on hand along with some loads of yearlings and then several new crop calves with some weaned and some not. However, demand was good for nearly all the cattle. Supply was moderate. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower.
Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 40% Heifers, 7% Bulls); 15% Slaughter Cattle (81% Cows, 19% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (69% Stock Cows, 15% Bred Heifers, 15% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 44%.
