Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold steady to firm and heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher. Demand was good for a moderate to light supply. Not too many surprises were to be in found in Friday's COF report and traders had already figured in some bearishness last Thursday with the futures market lower in anticipation. The heavy rain across the area has restricted spring work around the farm and although thankful for the moisture most are ready for some dryer weather. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.

Supply included: 87% Feeder Cattle (46% Steers, 49% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (62% Cows, 38% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (20% Stock Cows, 50% Bred Cows, 30% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 63%.
