Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold uneven as those under 650 lbs sold steady to spots 5.00 higher and heavier weights traded mostly 2.005.00 lower except for the 850-900 lb weight range selling 5.00-8.00 lower when compared to last weeks higher market for those cattle. There have been no recent comparable sales to the loads of 915-975 lb steers offered. Heifers sold steady to 4.00 lower. A heavy supply of reputation cattle made their way to town once again with the warm and dry weather. Overall, the quality and condition of the cattle was attractive. Demand was good except for being moderate to light for the 850-900 lb steers. Corn made another sharp gain on Tuesday and the recent volatility in that market along with the fact that cattle feeders have been unable to achieve higher prices for fed cattle made buyers conservative on some of the heavier yearlings. An additional 240 head of slaughter cows and bulls sold as well but were not reported due to the heavy supply of feeder cattle.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (64% Steers, 33% Heifers, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 71%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 2/23/2021 Last Year Total Receipts: 4,023 4,382 1,491 Feeder Cattle: 4,023(100.0%) 4,382(100.0%) 1,241(83.2%)
