Compared to last week, much heavier receipts this week and much improved calf quality had the 400-500 lb steers trading with a higher undertone, 500-550 lbs sold steady to firm, 550-600 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher and yearling steers over 600 lbs sold with a higher undertone with no recent comparison. Feeder heifers all sold with a higher undertone on last week's light test. Slaughter Cows sold mostly steady. Supply was moderate to heavy with demand good. There was thirteen pot loads of yearlings in Monday's offering with one consignment of near 350 head of green yearling steers weighing mostly 700-797 lbs and another consignment of near 250 head of 8 weight top quality yearling steers all selling with very good demand on and active market. Overall quality was very good especially on the steer calves weighing 400-600 lbs and heifers weighing 450-550 lbs and three pot loads of yearling heifers weighing 628-732 lbs.
Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (64% Steers, 33% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (7% Steers, 2% Heifers, 86% Cows, 5% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 61%.
