Market Notes

Compared to last week's heavy receipts and very active market, feeder steers weighing 400-750 lbs sold 3.00-7.00 lower, with three pot loads of yearling steers of similar weights and near quality weighing 845-905 lbs selling mostly 7.00-15.00 lower when compared to last week's top quality pot load lots black steers. Feeder heifers weighing 400-600 lbs sold firm to 3.00 higher with 6 weight heifers mostly steady and over 700 lbs not tested. Demand was moderate to good with best demand on the 400-700 lb steers and 400-650 lb heifers. Feeder cattle this week didn't reach last week's top prices as overall quality, pot loads and long strings of feeders ran very deep last week, but overall the market on feeder cattle remains very active. Slaughter cows traded sharply lower selling mostly 10.00-15.00 lower.

Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (60% Steers, 39% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (6% Steers, 82% Cows, 12% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 56%.
