Compared to last week feeders sold steady to 3.00 higher, with some spots of 5.00 to 8.00 higher on some of the tops of better quality calves or load lots of yearlings. As a whole, the supply of feeders was much lighter supply on a short holiday week. A few early week barns remained dark or had lighter offerings once mid-week arrived however, markets found support and most of the gains were evident especially those sales in the north. A few of the top sales this week included 7 loads of steers from 850-900 lbs. which sold on Tuesday at Unionville Livestock Market from 161.10-164.10. Then two days later on Thursday, at New Cambria Livestock Market a short load of 41 head of 851 lb. steers sold for 169.00. Another very impressive ticket on a load of 430 lb. steer calves at South Central Regional Stockyards on Wednesday which climbed to 215.50 when the hammer fell. Boxed beef cutouts closed higher for the week with choice at 267.26, up 1.84 and select at 250.02, up 3.52 from the previous week. Negotiated feedlot sales as of Friday afternoon totaled about 85,500 head. Live sales were reported mostly from 135.00-140.00 and dressed sales at 222.00. Monday's Missouri Stocker Formula consists of 3809 (3711) head with a weighted average weight of 540.44 (531.61) lbs and a price value of 188.49 (163.07) , 0.41 higher (0.19 higher) than last Monday.
Supply included: 70% Feeder Cattle (52% Steers, 45% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 19% Slaughter Cattle (0% Steers, 0% Heifers, 91% Cows, 8% Bulls); 10% Replacement Cattle (9% Stock Cows, 61% Bred Cows, 1% Bred Heifers, 27% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Heifer Pairs, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 38%.
