Compared to last week’s much lighter offering feeder steers and heifers sold 1.00 to 5.00 higher. The supply of feeders was moderate with many full load lots at barns around the state. Demand was moderate to good, with the best found on the yearlings that are harder to find as summer progresses. There was some pretty impressive prices around this week. Multiple loads of seven weights at different barns sold in the upper 160’s with some just cents away from 170.00. Three full loads of light nine weights sold at Green City Livestock Market from 159.00160.50. Something a little unusual this week was a large consignment of certified Wagyu cattle. A half load of 547 lb. steers sold at the Springfield Livestock Marketing Center this week for 215.00. Although we don’t about cow sales as much there was some cow sales and dispersals worth mentioning this week. The monthly cow sale at Callaway Livestock center was pretty hot. In the offering there a total of 154 head of 2-4 year cows in the third stage had an overall average right at $1754.00 per head. Windsor Livestock Auction also had some pretty salty prices on some three for one deals. Several 2-4 year old cows, with 150-300 lb. calves and rebred in the 1st stage averaged 2462.50, with the top lot at 2650.00. Even in the far southern part of the state prices were good. Ozarks Regional Stockyards held a summer replacement sale were the top bred cows brought 1625.00 and the top pairs brought 1825.00, each 250.00 per head higher than the top animals in the last special sale in February. Boxed beef cutouts climbed sharply this week with choice closing on Friday at 296.26, up 17.80 and select 277.09, up 17.90 compared to last week. Feedlot sales as of the last report Friday afternoon totaled just over 88K. Live sales were reported from 121.00127.50 and dressed sales mostly at 198.00. The Missouri Stocker Formula consist of 4314 head with a weighted average weight of 556.27 and a price value of 171.42, 2.80 higher than last week.

Supply included: 73% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 40% Heifers, 4% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (3% Steers, 1% Heifers, 83% Cows, 12% Bulls); 17% Replacement Cattle (6% Stock Cows, 65% Bred Cows, 10% Bred Heifers, 19% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Heifer Pairs, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 54%.
