Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter Steers sold steady to 2.00 higher, with Dairy Steers selling 3.00-5.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Heifers sold mostly steady, with no comparison for Dairy Heifers. No test for Bulls due to limited sales this and last week. Cows sold steady to 5.00 lower. Buyer attendance for the slaughter cattle sale was moderate, with moderate demand overall. Feeder Dairy Bull calves sold 10.0015.00 lower, with no test for Feeder Dairy Heifer calves due to limited comparable sales last week. Buyer attendance and demand was moderate for the calf sale.

Supply included: 13% Feeder Cattle (3% Steers, 3% Dairy Steers, 21% Heifers, 37% Bulls, 37% Dairy Heifers); 64% Slaughter Cattle (29% Steers, 12% Dairy Steers, 21% Heifers, 33% Cows, 4% Bulls, 1% Dairy Heifers); 23% Feeder Dairy Calves (88% Bulls, 13% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 42%.
