Market Notes
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers not well tested in early rounds but a lower undertone is noted. Demand continues better for the heavier weights. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested but a lower undertone is noted. Demand light to moderate for calves. More un-weaned calves beginning to show and this looking more like a June run. Still waiting on the May wheat run to begin unless cattle sold early due to the drought or less graze out cattle due to high wheat prices. Though head count wise, we are close to the same as a year ago, however we are far from the 81 percent over 600 lbs. like last year. Quality so far average.
Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 48% Heifers, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 42%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 5/9/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 9,800 6,532 7,834 Feeder Cattle: 9,800(100.0%) 6,532(100.0%) 7,834(100.0%)
