Market Notes
Compared to last week: A narrow comparison of feeder steers 5.00 to 10.00 lower, feeder heifers under 600 lbs steady to 4.00 lower, over 600 lbs steady to 4.00 higher. Moderate to good demand for feeder cattle this week, however the sharp losses on the Feeder Cattle futures board combined with the lower trending fat cattle market put pressure on the feeder market. The best demand, by far, is for those light cattle that will go to grass to run as yearlings as turnout time is here as the grass is green and growing thanks to the recent abundant moisture and now warming weather.
Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 53% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 68%.
