North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Archived Report

1/29/2022

Total Run: 9,883

Market Notes

Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 650 lbs steady to 1.00 lower, 650-750 lbs 1.00 higher, over 750 lbs 3.00 to 6.00 lower. Feeder heifers steady to 2.00 lower. Good demand this week for all weights of steers and heifers, but the demand for light cattle to make yearlings of is by far the bright spot in the market. The cash fed cattle market continues to disappoint, as it remains stuck below 140.00. This is dragging on the feeder market, as is the fact that feed costs are so high as corn futures are at 6.25.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (63% Steers, 37% Heifers, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 65%.
