Archived Report

Total Run: 8,391

Market Notes

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 2.00 to 4.00 higher, heifers under 600 lbs steady to 4.00 higher, over 600 lbs steady to 3.00 lower. Very good demand for cattle suitable to background, whether on grass or in a feedyard, good demand for steers suitable for finishing, only moderate demand for finishing type heifers. Turn out time is quickly approaching which is spurring demand for grass cattle but producers are wary yet as the winter was very dry and the soil profile is very dry. Good spring rains will be paramount to having a grazing season. April Live Cattle contract finally returned to 120.00 but cash fed cattle only attained a high of 117.00 this week. Cattle feeders are looking beyond to the back months of the board which are several dollars higher than the spot month.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 55% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 79%.
