Market Notes

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers under 500 lbs were 7.00 to 15.00 higher, steers over 500 lbs were 1.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 550 lbs traded 5.00 to 15.00 higher, heifers over 550 lbs were 3.00 to 5.00 higher. There were several offerings of quality cattle today that helped push the market higher. Some offerings of value added and pre-vac calves traded at a premium. The plain and unweaned cattle were not as desirable to buyers. Supply was good and demand was strong. No trend is available on slaughter cows and bulls due to time constraints.

Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 46% Heifers, 11% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (100% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 30%.
