Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers were 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs were 2.00 to 6.00 higher, heifers over 600 trended lower on a light test. Just as the previous week, new crop unweaned cattle and fleshy cattle were not desireable to buyers and were discounted heavily. Supply was good and demand strong on the weaned and lighter fleshed cattle. Slaughter cows were mostly steady to 4.00 higher and slaughter bulls traded mostly steady.

Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (42% Steers, 41% Heifers, 17% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (76% Cows, 24% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (16% Stock Cows, 21% Bred Cows, 26% Bred Heifers, 37% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 22%.
