Market Notes

Compared to last week feeder steers under 600 were mostly 2.00 to 5.00 lower. Steers over 600 traded uneven. Feeder heifers were 2.00 to 4.00 higher. There were several offerings of value added cattle on both heifers and steers that brought a premium. New crop and fleshy cattle were discounted heavily by the buyers. Supply was strong and demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady to 4.00 lower and slaughter bulls were steady. Not all slaughter cows and replacement cows were viewed.

Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 45% Heifers, 11% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (73% Cows, 27% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (35% Stock Cows, 39% Bred Cows, 26% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 29%.
