Market Notes

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend. However, for feeder steers and heifers under 500 lbs a lower undertone was noted; over 500 lbs a firm undertone was noted. Quality this week was mostly plain to average. Buyer demand was moderate for a heavy sale supply. Slaughter cows and bulls sold on a light test with a firm undertone. Buyer demand was good for weigh up cows and bulls.

Supply included: 82% Feeder Cattle (38% Steers, 58% Heifers, 4% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 9% Replacement Cattle (61% Stock Cows, 11% Bred Cows, 28% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 61%.
