Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers were mostly 2.00-4.00 lower, and feeder heifers were unevenly steady with a lower undertone. Trends on feeder classes are based on a limited test because of lighter receipts due largely in part to the Easter holiday yesterday which slowed livestock movement. Slaughter cows were unevenly steady, and slaughter bulls were too few to compare to last week but a lower undertone was noted. Offerings today included one load lot with 63 head steers, 850 lbs, 143.00.

Supply included: 78% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 45% Heifers, 12% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (24% Stock Cows, 39% Bred Cows, 20% Bred Heifers, 17% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 40%.
