Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady to 2.00 lower with light to moderate demand. Long-weaned (45+ days), preconditioned feeder cattle continue to see the best demand as fall temperature swings can create health issues for feeder cattle, especially those freshly weaned. Slaughter cows and bulls were mostly 1.00-2.00 lower with mostly moderate demand.

Supply included: 82% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 42% Heifers, 26% Bulls); 12% Slaughter Cattle (83% Cows, 17% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (1% Stock Cows, 67% Bred Cows, 10% Bred Heifers, 20% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 34%.
