Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter steers were 3.00 to 4.00 higher with slaughter heifers 2.00 to 3.00 higher with a good offering of high quality steers and heifers and better packer inquiry on higher quality steers and heifers. Holstein slaughter steers were 4.00 to 5.00 higher today. Cows were 3.00 higher with bulls 1.00 to 2.00 higher with another good of cows and bulls this week. Feeder steers and heifers were significantly higher with feeder bulls instances of higher/lower with some good offerings of fancy and value added feeders in all classes of feeders.

Supply included: 32% Feeder Cattle (36% Steers, 35% Heifers, 29% Bulls); 68% Slaughter Cattle (27% Steers, 6% Dairy Steers, 28% Heifers, 28% Cows, 11% Bulls, 0% Dairy Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 23%.
