Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter steers and heifers were 3.00 to 4.00 higher with higher packer inquiry this week. Holstein slaughter steers were 1.00 to 2.00 lower today. Cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher and bulls 1.00 higher. Feeder steers were sharply higher with feeder heifers uneven and feeder bulls had instances of higher/lower with some good groups of fancy and value added feeders.

Supply included: 53% Feeder Cattle (31% Steers, 47% Heifers, 22% Bulls); 47% Slaughter Cattle (22% Steers, 8% Dairy Steers, 23% Heifers, 43% Cows, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 33%.
