Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers overall sold 6.00 to 8.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs sold 4.00 to 5.00 lower, over 600 lbs 3.00 to 6.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold uneven; breakers and boners steady, leans 6.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Demand was reported as moderate to good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feed yards sold 7.00 to 9.00 higher from 178.00 to 180.00. In the hay market, demand remains good, trade activity remains slow, and prices remained mostly steady. New crop prices are starting to show up, a little later than usual, but they are there with not much difference from current ' 22 crop pricing.

Supply included: 85% Feeder Cattle (52% Steers, 48% Heifers, 0% Bulls); 13% Slaughter Cattle (89% Cows, 11% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (7% Stock Cows, 22% Bred Cows, 1% Bred Heifers, 69% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 90%.
