Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers overall sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs sold 5.00 to 7.00 higher; over 600 lbs sold steady to 2.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold uneven; breakers sold 3.00 to 4.00 lower, boners and leans sold 9.00 to 10.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold 2.00 to 5.00 lower. Demand was good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feedyards sold 2.00 lower at 138.00. Compared to the last report, overall alfalfa hay and grass hay were mostly steady while movement remains slow to moderate.

Supply included: 68% Feeder Cattle (62% Steers, 38% Heifers, 0% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (94% Cows, 6% Bulls); 24% Replacement Cattle (2% Stock Cows, 48% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 26% Cow-Calf Pairs, 19% Heifer Pairs, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 83%.
