Market Notes

Compared to last week, Feeder Steers sold steady to 3.00 higher. Feeder heifers 600-900 lbs sold 2.00 to 4.00 lower and all other weights sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Demand was good. Slaughter Cows sold steady to 1.00 lower and Slaughter Bulls sold 3.00 to 4.00 lower. Hay market prices remain steady for both alfalfa and grass hay while demand was fair to good. Producers report that spotty rains continue to slow down haying especially in the east part of the state, where prairie hay has been slow to come on this year and many are just now getting started.

Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 41% Heifers, 0% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (94% Cows, 6% Bulls); 0% Replacement Cattle (100% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 87%.
