Compared to last week, steers under 700 lbs sold 5.00 to 7.00 higher; over 700 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher. Heifer calves under 600 lbs sold 6.00 to 8.00 higher, heifers over 600 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Hay market prices were mostly steady to 10.00 higher for alfalfa in the southwest and south-central regions. Alfalfa in the southwest is very difficult to find, and although you can still find loads here and there in the central region, barns are emptying out. Demand was light to moderate and deliveries slowed the past week due to the mud. Slaughter steer and heifer sales in Kansas traded at 117.00 this week, 2.00 higher than last week.

Supply included: 96% Feeder Cattle (42% Steers, 57% Heifers, 0% Bulls); 3% Slaughter Cattle (94% Cows, 6% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (91% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 76%.
