Market Notes

Compared to last week steer and heifer calves and yearlings weak to 3.00 lower. Slaughter cows uneven, higher yielding and heavy weight cows steady, thinner cows 2.00-4.00 lower; slaughter bulls weak in light test. Stock cows and pairs slightly lower. Trading and demand moderate. Thin cows and light weight calves continue to make up the largest volume of the supply due to the continuing dry conditions.

Supply included: 71% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 45% Heifers, 6% Bulls); 17% Slaughter Cattle (94% Cows, 6% Bulls); 12% Replacement Cattle (87% Stock Cows, 5% Bred Cows, 8% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 18%.
