Kit Pharo's Upset Again

The man who made his name telling the entire beef industry they don't know how to raise cattle is once again upset over "Pharo Bashing" in his most recent newsletter.

This happens about once a year or so when people who aren't on his e-mail list watch his sales on RFD and wonder if they woke up in the Twilight Zone.  The conversation typically goes something like my dad calling and saying "JEFF, turn on RFD, you won't believe what these bulls look like and what they are selling for" to which I reply "oh, time flies, I forgot the Pharo sale was today".

It's always good for a bit of a laugh when he includes this in his newsletter because of the lack of self awareness it requires.  The best part had to be this quote...

Great minds discuss ideas.
Average minds discuss events.
Small minds discuss other people.

What was funny about it?  He spent the previous three paragraphs calling people "afraid of change", "filled with hatred and anger", "jealous", and "filled with envy".

To be clear, I really have nothing against the man, I've actually helped them spot a domain name issue one time when their webmaster got lazy and didn't have it on auto-renew.  You haven't seen me bash Kit's philosophies on here because they do make quite a bit of sense in the right environment.  I'll say that I know a lot of people that are "low input" and they'll laugh at you if you said a $5,000 bull was low input.

What doesn't make sense is for somebody who has made a name for himself criticising everything other than what he does to have such an amazingly thin skin.

Well said; nothing I despise as much as a hypocrite.

Jeff-Which of these three catagories do you fall?
jeff commented 5/6/2010 10:56:53 AM
????

Its a stupid quote used by people try deflect criticism from themselves.

It sure seems that Kit Pharo gets under alot of people's skin. I'm not sure why. If you don't like his cattle, or do not like his philosphies regarding raising cattle or his faith, then don't let him bug you. He surely is vocal and successful. I give him alot of credit. He does give me alot to think about.

I'm calling out his hypocricy, not his cattle.
tom commented 5/6/2010 12:04:56 PM
Most of us have a tiny bit of hipocrisy hidden deep in us.
jeff commented 5/6/2010 12:42:11 PM
Agreed, but we're not talking about a "tiny bit" here and you know that.

If you want to make your name going after the establishment, more power to you. What I'm saying is getting pissy every time somebody says about you what you make a living saying about them is just myopic.

I personally own all pharo genetics and am a believer in his philosophy. Saying this, I have been disappointed to hear half a dozen people this year make comments on how short and rude Kit was with them over the phone. I've been hearing this for several years now which is discouraging to ademately stay behind him and his products.
