Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold uneven with calves under 600 lbs steady, 600-800 lbs 3.00-7.00 lower and 800-900 lbs steady. Heifers sold 2.00-5.00 lower. Demand was mostly moderate but good in spots for the higher quality cattle with several reputation consignments offered, lighter late in the day. In general, cattle were carrying a little more flesh this week, but the recent rise in feed cost has been the main market mover. Supply was moderate to heavy. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady.

Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (63% Steers, 36% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 8% Slaughter Cattle (81% Cows, 19% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 57%.
