Market Notes

Compared to last week, few true comparisons could be made with a light supply of feeders offered, however the undertone was steady to lower. The better quality 550-675 lb steers saw the best demand and were what held up near steady. Overall demand was moderate with the overall quality not as attractive as last week. Some cowherd dispersals followed the feeder offering with dry conditions to the south of the barn. Slaughter cows sold mostly 2.00-4.00 lower except for a few high dressing cows and slaughter bulls trading steady.

Supply included: 67% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 45% Heifers, 7% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (82% Cows, 18% Bulls); 16% Replacement Cattle (17% Bred Cows, 24% Bred Heifers, 59% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 48%.
