Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 6.00 higher with the most gain on the 500-600 lb heifers. However, yearling steers weighing over 750 lbs traded mostly 5.00 lower. Demand was good to very good for a heavy supply with near perfect weather to move cattle and with calf prices higher than the last several years, producers were content with marketing cattle now. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to firm.

Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 44% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 44%.
