Market Notes

Compared to last week, comparisons were light but steers and heifers sold weak to 5.00 lower. Demand was moderate for a few groups of longer weaned cattle and moderate to light for the un-weaned to 30 day weaned calves. Supply was light with mostly smaller groups and several un-weaned calves. The overall quality didn't match up to last week. Cattle futures have trended mainly lower this week as the promising outlook of higher prices for fed cattle this summer have waned and corn has been trading higher. Slaughter cows sold 4.00-6.00 lower.

Supply included: 80% Feeder Cattle (36% Steers, 54% Heifers, 10% Bulls); 20% Slaughter Cattle (84% Cows, 16% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 47%.
