Market Notes

Compared to last week, a light test of feeders sold with a steady to weak undertone. Demand was moderate for a light supply. A cow herd dispersal was on offer following the feeders. Cattle futures saw sharp losses for the first time in awhile on Thursday. Slaughter cows sold mostly 2.00-3.00 higher than last weeks light test but some higher dressing fleshy cows sold sharply higher.

Supply included: 60% Feeder Cattle (35% Steers, 50% Heifers, 15% Bulls); 28% Slaughter Cattle (83% Cows, 17% Bulls); 12% Replacement Cattle (44% Stock Cows, 48% Bred Cows, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 30%.
