Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifer calves sold firm to 5.00 higher and the yearling steers offered sold with a sharply higher undertone. Yearling heifers were lightly tested and sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good for a moderate supply that was highlighted by a 200 head consignment of quality calves off the cow. Also, some nice packages of yearlings were offered. The recent world supply and demand report was bearish for corn, sending it sharply lower Wednesday and Thursday, supporting feeder cattle. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 2.004.00 lower.

Supply included: 82% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 51% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 32%.
