Market Notes

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold steady to weak and yearlings sold with a lower undertone but no recent sales to compare to for an accurate trend. Supply was light, but some really fancy calves were on offer, most off the cow or with a 30 day wean. Demand was mostly moderate, but good for the higher quality 500-625 lb steers. Same ole story of the last few weeks of high corn and a flat fed market pressuring feeder prices lower. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.

Supply included: 67% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 40% Heifers, 6% Bulls); 28% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 5% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 42%.
