Compared to last week, steers and heifer calves weighing 400-500 lbs were lightly tested with few comparisons, a light test of 500-550 lbs steers sold 2.00-3.00 lower, with 550-650 lbs selling steady to firm, 650-750 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher, over 750 lbs sold with a firm undertone on few comparable sales. Feeder heifers weighing 500-700 lbs sold 4.00-6.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good with best demand on a top quality offering of 600-750 lb steers selling on and active market. USDA released a very bullish WASDE report sending corn and soybean prices to new highs with corn up 25 cents and soybeans 49-52 cents higher. Corn production estimated at 14.182 BB, down 324 MB on lower yields reduced to 172 bpa compared to 175.8 bpa in December. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher.

Supply included: 91% Feeder Cattle (67% Steers, 32% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (84% Cows, 16% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 77%.
