Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady with some exceptions sharply higher. Yearlings had a limited comparison. There was moderate to good demand for all feeder cattle, with good offerings and good buyer activity this week. The best demand was noted for long-weaned, preconditioned steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady to 3.00 higher. Demand was moderate to very good for all slaughter cattle.

Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (38% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 46% Heifers, 15% Bulls); 13% Slaughter Cattle (0% Steers, 0% Heifers, 84% Cows, 16% Bulls); 4% Replacement Cattle (3% Stock Cows, 51% Bred Cows, 6% Bred Heifers, 36% Cow-Calf Pairs, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 43%.
