Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 higher and boning type slaughter cows were steady to 1.00 higher; slaughter bulls were 5.00 to 6.00 lower. There were too few comparable feeder steers and bulls to establish an adequate market comparison, but a lower undertone was noted; feeder heifers were 2.00 to 4.00 higher on a very light test. Demand was moderate to good; market activity and buyer interest were moderate to active. Offerings of cattle were fairly light. Cattle quality was average to attractive.

Supply included: 68% Feeder Cattle (14% Steers, 42% Heifers, 44% Bulls); 32% Slaughter Cattle (83% Cows, 17% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 13%.
