Market Notes

Compared to last week, boning type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 lower, while breaking type slaughter cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher and slaughter bulls were 7.00 to 8.00 higher. Feeder cattle were unevenly steady. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were fairly light due to rain. Cattle quality was average.

Supply included: 76% Feeder Cattle (38% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 43% Heifers, 18% Bulls); 18% Slaughter Cattle (78% Cows, 22% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (50% Bred Cows, 50% Cow-Calf Pairs); 5% Slaughter Goats (90% Kids, 10% Bucks/Billies). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 38%.
