Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 2.00 to 3.00 higher, boning type slaughter cows were 4.00 to 5.00 higher, and slaughter bulls were 10.00 to 11.00 higher. There were too few comparable feeder steers to establish an adequate market comparison; feeder heifers were unevenly steady; while feeder bulls were mostly 3.00 to 6.00 higher. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was mostly attractive. Baby calves ranged 25.00 to 45.00 per head; "by the head" calves were 100.00 to 180.00.

Supply included: 71% Feeder Cattle (13% Steers, 5% Dairy Steers, 56% Heifers, 25% Bulls, 1% Dairy Heifers); 24% Slaughter Cattle (4% Dairy Steers, 84% Cows, 12% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (100% Bred Cows); 0% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (100% Hair Ewes); 3% Slaughter Goats (50% Kids, 50% Nannies/Does). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 24%.
