Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were 4.00 to 5.00 higher, while slaughter bulls were 11.00 to 12.00 lower. Feeder cattle were mostly 3.00 to 9.00 higher. Demand was moderate to very good for value added cattle; market activity and buyer interest were moderate to active. Offerings of cattle were moderate. Cattle quality was average to attractive. Baby calves ranged 35.00 to 220.00 per head; "by the head calves" were 170.00 to 270.00.

Supply included: 61% Feeder Cattle (34% Steers, 2% Dairy Steers, 42% Heifers, 22% Bulls); 27% Slaughter Cattle (11% Heifers, 67% Cows, 22% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (75% Bred Cows, 25% Cow-Calf Pairs); 3% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (100% Hair Breeds); 6% Slaughter Goats (82% Kids, 6% Nannies/Does, 12% Bucks/Billies). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 28%.
