Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 lower, while boning type slaughter cows were 5.00 to 6.00 higher and slaughter bulls were sharply higher. Feeder cattle were mostly steady to 1.00 higher. Demand was good, very good for attractive cattle; market activity and buyer interest were active. Offerings of cattle were fairly light. Cattle quality was average to attractive. Baby calves ranged 15.00 to 40.00 per head.

Supply included: 74% Feeder Cattle (23% Steers, 47% Heifers, 30% Bulls); 23% Slaughter Cattle (85% Cows, 15% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (50% Bred Cows, 50% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 28%.
