Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 5.00 to 6.00 lower, boning type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 lower, and slaughter bulls were steady to 1.00 lower. Feeder steers were mostly 5.00 to 10.00 lower; heifers 3.00 to 7.00 lower; and feeder bulls were mostly 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was average. Baby calves ranged 15.00 to 25.00 per head; "by the head" calves were 185.00 to 195.00.

Supply included: 63% Feeder Cattle (30% Steers, 45% Heifers, 25% Bulls); 19% Slaughter Cattle (73% Cows, 27% Bulls); 4% Replacement Cattle (88% Bred Cows, 13% CowCalf Pairs); 4% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (71% Hair Breeds, 24% Hair Ewes, 6% Hair Bucks); 11% Slaughter Goats (59% Kids, 35% Nannies/Does, 7% Bucks/Billies). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 17%.
