Market Notes

Compared to last week, boning type slaughter cows were steady to 1.00 lower and slaughter bulls were 8.00 to 9.00 lower; there were too few breaking type slaughter cows to establish an adequate market comparison. Feeder cattle were mostly 1.00 to 6.00 higher. Demand for feeder cattle was good; market activity and buyer interest were active. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was average to attractive. Baby calves ranged 20.00 to 30.00 per head.

Supply included: 79% Feeder Cattle (35% Steers, 49% Heifers, 16% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (79% Cows, 21% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (44% Bred Cows, 56% Cow-Calf Pairs); 1% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (100% Hair Breeds); 1% Slaughter Goats (33% Kids, 67% Bucks/Billies). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 25%.
