Market Notes

Compared to last week, boning type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 lower; there were too few comparable breaking type slaughter cows and slaughter bulls to establish an adequate market comparison. Feeder steers were mostly steady to 2.00 lower with some 8.00 to 9.00 lower; heifers were 9.00 to 10.00 lower; and there were too few comparable feeder bulls to establish an adequate market comparison. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were moderate. Cattle quality was average. Baby calves ranged 15.00 to 30.00 per head; "by the head" calves were 60.00 to 300.00.

Supply included: 75% Feeder Cattle (30% Steers, 45% Heifers, 25% Bulls); 22% Slaughter Cattle (92% Cows, 8% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (50% Bred Cows, 50% Cow-Calf Pairs); 2% Slaughter Goats (50% Nannies/Does, 50% Bucks/Billies). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 20%.
